The Rescue Team

The Rescue Team takes on pets who are experiencing catastrophic illness or injury.

Local shelters and emergency vets regularly reach out to us when patients' needs are beyond their capacity for care.

We do not operate a shelter, and do not have fixed premises of operation.

Our capacity to save the lives of these pets is based entirely on donations to our Major Medical Fund, and our volunteer foster care providers who open their homes to convalescing pets.

Adopt love today.

If you can't adopt, foster.

If you can't foster, donate.

Because nothing feels as good as saving a life.

The Major Medical Fund

We regularly rescue and treat puppies with parvo, dogs and cats who have been hit by cars and sustained life threatening trauma, pets with complex neurological problems, and pets with serious congenital defects.  We rehabilitate pets who have sustained neglect and abuse, often providing protective custody in foster homes as an alternative to prolonged stays in local animal shelters.

We commit to provide the highest and most humane standard of care for each pet we take on.  Because cases often require thousands of dollars of diagnostics, hospitalization,  and surgical intervention from veterinary specialists, we are limited in how many pets we can save by our Major Medical Fund's budget, and the availability of foster homes.

Because each pet we rescue has come to us after being let down by someone who was originally responsible for their care, we are committed to insuring that they live charmed lives ever after.  They are available for adoption to homes who have the wherewithal to insure that they never want for lack of resources again.

Foster Team

Each pet we rescue finds comfort, love, and care in a foster home before becoming available for adoption.

We receive dozens of urgent pleas a week to take on perfectly worthy, dear pets whose lives are in immediate danger in local shelters or emergency hospitals.

Every single time a foster opens their home to a new pet, they are truly saving the pet's life, because without a foster home, we are unable to take on the pet.

We provide all food, bedding, crates, collars, leashes, medical care, and behavioral support for each foster pet.

The fosters are responsible for following our medical and management protocols, and for providing love and stability to their foster pets.

Our foster coaches are available day and night to provide support and counsel for foster care providers.

Fosters may stay from one week, to several months in a foster home, depending on the pet's specific condition and circumstances.

Adopt a Rescued Pet

Because each pet we rescue has come to us after being let down by someone who was originally responsible for their care, we are committed to insuring that they live charmed lives ever after.  They are available for adoption to homes who have the wherewithal to insure that they never want for lack of resources again.

We ask that everyone interested in adopting a pet from 4 R Friends complete a questionnaire to help us insure that every match between a family and pet is set up for life long success.

All pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, heartworm or FeLV and FIV tested, up to date on core vaccines and flea, tick, and heartworm prevention prior to adoption.
